Sarnia Police recovered items taken in two separate thefts from cars and arrested one person.
Sometime overnight on the 30th of March two cars were entered into and items taken. The first car was located in the 300 block of London Road and two jackets, a leather satchel containing a MacBook, a GPS and passport were taken. The second car was parked in the 200 block of Durand Street and taken was an I Pad, binoculars and identification. There were no suspects identified at the time of the incident.
Later the next day the owner of the MacBook notified police that his “Find My Mac” app indicated his device was in the area of Murphy Road and Michigan Avenue. The owner attended the area and spotted the suspect with his computer. Two Traffic Branch officers responded to the broadcast from dispatchers and located the suspect returning to his home in the area and arrested him. The officers were able to recover the stolen items from the two thefts.
A 29 year old Sarnia man has been charged with three counts of possession of stolen property and three counts of possession of stolen identity.
