On Tuesday March 31, 2015, in a joint forces investigation, Detectives assigned to the Sarnia Police and Chatham-Kent Police Internet Child Exploitation Units executed a search warrant at a north end residence in the City of Sarnia. This warrant was as a result of an on-line investigation into child pornography as part of the Provincial Strategy to protect children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation On The Internet. Both Sarnia and Chatham-Kent’s Internet and Child Exploitation or “I.C.E.” Units receive grants from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services, to assist with these investigations.
As a result of the warrant a 47 year old male was arrested and faces charges of possession of child pornography and accessing child pornography. Several computers and peripheral devices were seized and will be analyzed for illegal content.
Sarnia Police Service will continue to investigate any and all instances of Child Exploitation and thank the public for their assistance in these matters.
