On Friday, July 11th, 2014 Sarnia Police Service’s Vice Officers along with the assistance from the COPPS unit and General Patrol Officers requested a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrant for an apartment in the 100 block of Queen Street in the City of Sarnia.
Due to concerns of a barricaded door the officers arrested a male accused after he had left his apartment to take his dog for a walk at about 9:50 pm. After this, the officers entered the apartment at about 10:00 pm to conduct the search warrant and found a female who also resided there and she too was arrested.
Once the residence was searched the officers found the following:
- Saber Bear Spray
- Stun Gun
- Flick Knife
- $550.00
- 7 grams of Marihuana ( $70.00 street value)
- 5 – 25mcg patches( $500.00 street value)
- 108 Hydromorphone Dilaudid 8s ($2650.00 street value)
- A stolen Trek Mountain Bike
- Other paraphernalia
The male arrested was a Randall Scott Toole, born April 11, 1977. He was charged with two counts under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act 5(2) for possession for the purpose of trafficking of fentanyl and hydromorphone, and 4(1) for possession of cannabis marihuana, two counts under the Criminal Code 91(2) for possess prohibited weapon, being a stun gun and a flick knife, Criminal Code 355(b) for possession of stolen property, the Trek mountain bike, and four counts under the Criminal Code 145(3) for breaching his recognizance.
The female who was arrested was a Samantha Fleck, born April 18, 1988. She was charged with two counts under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act 5(2) for possession for the purpose of trafficking of fentynal and hydromorphone, and 4(1) for possession of cannabis marihuana, two counts under the Criminal Code 91(2) for possess prohibited weapon, being a stun gun, Criminal Code 355(b) for possession of stolen property, the Trek mountain bike, and three counts under the Criminal Code 145(3) for breaching his recognizance.
Both were held for a bail hearing.
The unfortunate truth of this activity is that weapons, drugs and stolen property go hand in hand. As far as officer safety goes it is difficult to predict what they may encounter and must be ready for anything.
