Sarnia Police became involved in a foot pursuit today just before the lunch hour when security at a business in the Northgate Plaza attempted to stop a shoplifter. A 23 year old Sarnia man left the area on foot westbound to the Willowdale Crescent area. He crossed over Exmouth Street near Capel Street with police close behind.
They eventually apprehended him south of that intersection but he resisted during the arrest procedure.
He has also been identified as the man responsible for the theft of a computer from a store on Exmouth Street back on January 15, 2013. Sarnia Police released his picture at that time and numerous tips were received on his identity.
He remains in custody facing charges of Theft Under $5,000 and Resist Arrest from today’s incident and he will face a charge of Theft Under $5,000 for the computer theft on January 15, 2013. He will go for a bail hearing tomorrow.
