At approximately 12:02 AM, on June 10, 2022, an officer on patrol observed a vehicle westbound on Confederation Street swerving across lanes. The vehicle continued to show inconsistent driving and thus a traffic stop was conducted to confirm sobriety. When the driver of the suspect vehicle opened his door and attempted to exit he stumbled out of the car and almost fell to the ground.
As a result of the signs and symptoms presented to the officer the driver was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. Subsequently the accused was transported back to the station for testing on the Intoxilyzer by a qualified breath technician.
The results from the testing, of the accused, indicated that his blood had three times the legal limit of alcohol.
Currently, Robert Tad Fortey, 52 years of age, of Sarnia, faces one count of impaired operation and one count of having a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus.
On June 11, 2022, prior to 2:30 AM, an officer travelling eastbound on London Road approached a vehicle travelling westbound on London Road in the center lane drifting over the lines causing the officer heading in the opposite direction to swerve out of the way to avoid a collision.
The officer turned his cruiser around to follow and conduct a traffic stop. Instead of pulling over the vehicle came to a stop at the intersection of London Road and Indian Road and after being directed by the officer to pull over the vehicle allegedly struck the curb.
After interacting with the driver it was alleged that he was impaired and thus arrested. The accused was transported back to the station for testing on the Intoxilyzer by a qualified breath technician. The results from the testing of the accused indicated that his blood had twice the legal limit of alcohol.
Dominic Iacobelli, 25 years of age, of Sarnia, faces one count of impaired operation and one count of having a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus.
Both accused have had their driver licences suspended for 90 days and their motor vehicles impounded for 7 days.
