On June 20, 2021, at approximately 3:20 PM, Sarnia Police received the report of a vehicle driving erratically in a parking lot at a business on Quinn Drive. According to the information received the vehicle almost struck several other vehicles in the lot.
Once officers arrived on scene they located the vehicle and also found the suspect lying on the ground in the parking lot. Fortunately, the complainant was able to keep the police apprised of what was happening and also able to identify the driver (suspect) for the police.
As officers investigated the matter further they realized that the suspect presented with signs of impairment and was taken into custody.
The suspect was transported to the station where a drug recognition evaluation was conducted.
Secondary to the evaluation, the accused, Robert Ernest Shepherd, 31 years of age, of Sarnia, was charged with operation while impaired by drugs.
Mr. Shepherd was subsequently released with an initial court date of August 24, 2021, at 9:30 AM, at the Sarnia Lambton Court House located at 700 Christina Street North. A 90 Day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) was also issued.
