On June 15, 2021, two males, from the Greater Toronto Area, were in the city of Sarnia and were being investigated by members of the Sarnia Police Service Community Patrol Branch for unrelated Criminal Code offences. Due to observations and information obtained at the scene, Police officers seized the vehicle, a blue BMW, at the time, believing the vehicle may have been stolen. The vehicle was towed by police to a secure compound pending further investigation.
The Sarnia Police VICE unit was informed of these two males and the seized vehicle and subsequently began a drug investigation based on drug information VICE officers had received involving these two males and the vehicle.
On the 17th of June, 2021, a Controlled Drugs and Substance Act search warrant was executed by the Sarnia Police VICE unit on the BMW. The following drugs were located inside the vehicle and seized:
1) Cocaine: 203.58 grams (7.27 ounces)
2) Crystal Methamphetamine: 317 grams (11.32 ounces)
3) Fentanyl: 194.66 grams (6.95 ounces)
The total ounces of drugs seized was 25.54 ounces. The street value of the seized drugs is approximately $155,490.00.
Warrants have been issued for Felix FUNES-VASQUEZ, 32 years of age and Jason GARCIA, 43 years of age, who are both from the Greater Toronto Area.
Both Funes-Vasquez and Garcia faces three counts of possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking. Funes-Vasquez also faces an additional charge for operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited under the Criminal Code.
