This morning at approximately 7:44 AM, the Sarnia Police Service responded to a suspicious package located in the 1100 block of Brenchley Street, in the City of Sarnia.
Out of concern that the package may contain some sort of explosive device the area was closed off to all vehicle and foot traffic.
The Sarnia Police Service requested the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police Explosives Disposal Unit (EDU) to secure the device. Residents in the immediate area were evacuated prior to the OPP EDU neutralizing the package. It was determined that there were no explosives present in the package.
The Sarnia Police Service is continuing its investigation into the matter.
The area was re-opened at 1:15 PM and we would like to thank everyone for their patience.
