On March 28, 2019, at approximately 11:00 pm, members of the Sarnia Police Service were dispatched to the area of Elgin Street and Napier Street regarding a vehicle that had struck a house.
Upon arrival officers noted that there was extensive damage to the residence and that the drive of the vehicle had left the area. Fortunately witnesses at the scene were able to identify the driver and what had occurred, and were also able to advise police that the driver fled the area.
Officers located the suspect at his residence a short distance from the collision scene where they arrested him for failing to remain at the scene. As the officers continued their investigation reasonable grounds were formed to arrest the accused for impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
