The Sarnia Police Service recently applied to the Ontario Government’s Civil Remedies Grant for money to assist in combatting Human Trafficking activity.
The Sarnia Police Service has been notified that they will receive a grant that will be directed towards an ongoing Human Trafficking Identification and Surveillance Project.
The grant of $37,537 will be used to purchase equipment that will assist officers in identifying and locating areas where human trafficking is taking place.
With plate recognition technology and surveillance cameras that will be able to record all activity associated with human trafficking, officers will be able to assist in the rescue of victims and the prosecution of offenders.
