Date: December 3, 2018

On November 30, 2018, at approximately 10:00 pm, a single motor vehicle was travelling east bound on Michigan Line east of Telfer Road when it collided with an animal and swerved. The vehicle lost control and went off the road prior to the bridge running over Cull Drain.

The vehicle and a 45 year old male driver ended up in the water and due to the water level and current the vehicle was dragged a short distance and finally came to rest and started to sink. Once the driver became alert again he noted that water was entering the vehicle and had difficulty opening the door. He was able to get himself out of the submerged car by opening the window and then standing on the roof of the car. Even while he stood on the roof of the car water was up to his knees.

The driver was able to call 911 to which Sarnia Police, Fire, and Lambton Paramedics responded.

Sarnia Fire was able to pull the driver from the vehicle after which he was taken to hospital for observation with no serious injuries.

Thanks to his ability to keep his senses and work through this terrifying ordeal he is alive.
