Currently the Sarnia Police Service Criminal Investigation Branch is investigating a number of incidents where businesses have had individuals attend their store or gas bar and purchase something. The suspects would pay using an older paper $100 bill that looks fairly authentic and then receive cash back.
Unfortunately, it is not until later that they realize that the money was fraudulent.
First, we are asking businesses to be extra vigilant when receiving the older form of the Canadian $100 bill (paper). The following website, from the Bank of Canada, may be of assistance. https://www.bankofcanada.ca/banknotes
Also, we are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the following two females as part of this investigation. At this time these are the best photos we are able to gather. The photos are located below.
If you can assist in this investigation or identify the females below you are pleased asked to contact Detective Jim McCabe at 519-344-8861, extension 6167, or Sarnia Lambton Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
