Earlier today the Sarnia Police Service responded to a boat that had washed ashore at the end of Yates Court in Brights Grove, Ontario. The boat is believed to be a catamaran and lime green in colour. The boat was shattered into pieces as it was washing ashore and striking the rocks.
The registration number on the boat is MC 0053 JY. The boat was originally registered to a person in Shelby, Michigan in St. Clair County several years ago. The boat has since been sold but unfortunately it is unknown who the new owner is.
Also, to note, a red cooler bag full of food had been pulled from the water near the wreckage containing fresh food.
Earlier today the Sarnia Police Service was assisted by Sarnia Fire and Point Edward Fire regarding a search of the area. At this time members of the Sarnia Police Service Emergency Response Unit have begun a search along with the Canadian Coast Guard and Military out of CFB Trenton as well as the American Coast Guard.
It is unconfirmed whether anyone was onboard the boat or not.
