The Sarnia Police Criminal Investigations Branch has charged a 39 year old Sarnia man for numerous criminal offenses following an altercation at a local restaurant.
On Sunday January 10, 2016 at about 2:00 a.m. the accused, along with two other people, was leaving a local restaurant located in the 1000 block of Finch Drive. The accused became involved in a verbal altercation with another group of people and ended up assaulting two males from the other group before fleeing to his vehicle parked nearby. As the victims friends went to intervene the accused drove his vehicle toward them striking three males. The accused then drove in reverse with another male on the trunk of the car who eventually fell off the vehicle. The accused then left the scene. Four males in total received injuries ranging from scrapes and bruises to a broken femur.
The accused faces charges including assault cause bodily harm, assault, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, three counts of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing bodily harm, five counts of aggravated assault, two counts of mischief and also fail to remain at a collision.
The accused turned himself into police shortly before 2:00 p.m. on Thursday January 14, 2016 and will be held for a bail hearing.
