January 13, 2016 members of the Sarnia Police Service COPPS Unit were on patrol in the City of Sarnia when they observed a male party driving his car on Exmouth Street trying to conceal is his face from the officers’ view as they drove by him. The officers at this point turned the vehicle around to initiate a traffic stop to confirm if the driver was even licensed as his actions appeared very odd.
At this point the vehicle tried to pull away from the officers and into a residential complex at the east end of Exmouth Street. While driving the suspect cut off another vehicle, abandoned his car into a snow drift and ran from the vehicle where he was pursued by police on foot and was finally arrested without further incident.
The accused was charged with driving while disqualified, resist peace officer and three counts of breach of probation.
On January 14th, 2016 the suspect was transported to the Sarnia Lambton Court House for his bail hearing. While in the cell block area the accused became agitated and began to smash a phone he was using to speak with to a lawyer.
He was then further charged with two counts of mischief and 1 count of breach of probation.
The accused, Brandon DARCY, November 26, 1993 of Sarnia, was subsequently remanded into custody.
