Thefts and Break and Enters

Broadcast time: 11:08 a.m.

Date: July 9, 2015

The Sarnia Police Service is reminding residents to lock their vehicles, as well as doors and windows to their homes.

The service records show that half of all theft calls that officers respond to involve thefts from vehicles. In most cases these thefts could be avoided by locking the vehicle and keeping valuables out of sight or not kept in the vehicle. Items that are being taken include lap-top computers, wallets, phones, passports and large amounts of change left in plain view.

Police advise residents to keep doors and windows to their homes locked and to keep garage doors closed when not in use.

These are crimes of opportunity and the police along with public need to work together to reduce these incidents.

Please report suspicious activity in your neighbourhood.

Date: July 24, 2015

Sarnia Police were dispatched to the 1600 block of Trinity Crescent just before 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2015 regarding a deer inside a home. The deer had crashed through the front window of the home and sustained severe injuries as a result. Animal control and police officers on scene deemed it necessary for humanitarian reasons to destroy the deer. The incident was reported by a passerby and there was no one at home at the time.

Police received a second call of a deer in distress around the noon hour. This deer had become wedged between a house and fence in the 100 block of South Vidal Street and it was discovered that the deer had severe injuries.
