Drug Bust Plus

Broadcast time: 8:04 AM

Date: February 25, 2014

Sarnia Police Service Vice officers, assisted by COPPS and uniform executed a drug warrant yesterday in 100 block of Euphemia Street. Just before 2:00pm February 24, 2014 officers entered the home and arrested a 27 year old man who resides at that home. During the search officers discovered approximately 185 grams of marihuana and cash. The street value is estimated to be in the area of $1800.00.

The male will attend a Bail Hearing today and faces one count of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.

The officers made another discovery that caused them great concern. Two BB guns, which closely resemble actual firearms, were found in a bedroom. One of the BB guns was in plain view and the other simply in a drawer of a bedside table. The top gun pictured resembles a HK MP5K submachine gun and the pistol resembles a Colt Defender. Beside the picture of the two BB guns seized is a picture of an actual HK MP5K

When officers are confronted with replica firearms of this nature they must make split second assessments as to its authenticity. These situations most often take place in poor lighting conditions and under stress.

Police encourage members of the public who may own these types of replicas to use caution when using and storing these items.
