Update: 6 Remain in Custody on Recent Drug Busts

Five people arrested over the past few days in drug busts remain in custody awaiting bail hearings.

Nicole Marie Janson, age 28, of Sarnia faces charges of Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking.

Ryan Shean McLean, age 37, of Sarnia faces charges of Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of methylenedioxyamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Methadone for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Oxycodone, Possession of Cannabis Marihuana and Possession of Cannabis Resin.

Brent Wilson Moore, age 33, of Sarnia faces charges of Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Methylenedioxyamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Methadone for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Cannabis Marihuana, Possession of Cannabis Resin and Breach of Probation.

These three parties were arrested on July 9.

 

Robert Wilcocks, age 62, of Sarnia, is charged with Possession of Cannabis Mmarihuana, Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Operate Motor Vehicle in a Dangerous Manner and Assault Police.

Sharon Marie Stockton, age 41, of Sarnia, is charged with Possession of Cannabis Marihuana, Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Methamphetamine and Breach of Recognizance.

Michel St. Jean, age 39, of Sarnia is charged with Possession of Cannabis Marihuana and Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking.

Michael David Kettle, age 50, of Sarnia, is charged with Possession of Cannabis Marihuana, Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Methamphetamine.

These four parties were arrested last evening in the area of Russell Street and London Road.

MISSING 13-YEAR-OLD MALE

              The Sarnia Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a missing 13 year old

              Jason MCDOWELL. Jason was last seen in the area of Indian Rd at Exmouth St at 01:00 PM this

             date.

                 

             Jason is described as: 5’ tall, thin build, white male, short brown hair, blue eyes. Jason is wearing

            an Orange long sleeve shirt and beige pants that appear to be too small for him.

Weekend of Drunks

On July 13, 2013 around 1:40 AM, an officer observed a male staggering down Christina Street North near Lochiel Street. The 51 year old man identified himself for the officer and gave his address. The officer transported the man to that location, however, the man indicated he did not live there and did not know where he lived. He was arrested and taken to police headquarters to sober up. Before he was put in a cell, police located an open bottle of whiskey tucked in the man’s sock. It was seized. He was issued to Provincial Offence Notices and then released a few hours later.

On July 14 around 2:40 AM, an officer on patrol was southbound on Murphy Road, near Rosedale Avenue when he passed a northbound motor vehicle that was travelling at a high rate of speed. The officer turned to follow the car but the suspect car continued to travel at a very high rate of speed. The officer finally caught up to it just north of Errol Road. The officer noted the vehicle to cross over the center line on two occasions. There were three occupants in the car. The officer spoke to the 39 year old male driver. He smelled of alcohol. He was asked to provide a breath sample into a road side screening device. He blew a fail. He was taken to police headquarters where the breath tests conducted there showed he was over 3 times the legal limit. He faces a charge of drive with over 80 MG.

On July 14, around 4:40 AM, police were sent to Pearl Street to look for a suspicious person. They arrived a found a 21 year old Petrolia man staggering around. He smelled of alcohol and said he was listening to his iPod, but he did not have an iPod on him! He said he had never been in trouble with the law. A check was done and it was discovered he was under house arrest with a no alcohol condition. He was arrested. He was held for a bail hearing.

More Weekend Activities for Mid July

On July 13, 2013 around 6 PM, the police were called to the 200 block of North Mitton Street regarding a man that was causing a disturbance. Police arrived and found a 20 year old Sarnia man standing in front of a building. The alarm was going off at the building. The officer was aware that there was an existing warrant for this man so he was arrested. It was at this time the officer was informed that this man had smashed a window on the building he was standing in front of. The broken window had activated the alarm. The man now faces a new charge of Mischief Over $5,000 and was held for a bail hearing.

On July 14, just after 2 AM information was received that two people may be trespassing in an apartment in the 300 block of Wellington Street. Officer arrived and found two individuals inside a vacant apartment. They were arrested for break and enter. Both were on probation. A 24 year old man and a 25 year old woman, both from Sarnia were taken to police headquarters but not before being searched. The female was found with a knife in her purse. The three inch blade could be opened with centrifugal force, making it a prohibited weapon. She was also found to have syringes in her shorts along with a small quantity of methamphetamine. The male was later released on an Undertaking, charged with Break and Enter and Breach of Probation. The female was held for bail, facing charges of Break and Enter, Breach of Probation x 2, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon and Possession of Methamphetamine.

Also on July 14, around 1:30 PM, police observed a male party they were familiar with, operating a motor vehicle while he was prohibited from doing so. The officers had stopped him near Christina Street North and Cromwell Street. He was arrested and taken to police headquarters to be held for bail. He was found to be on an Undertaking with a condition not to drive. The Sarnia man is 74 years old.

Update: Man Arrested on O/S Warrant

David Lee Boyd, age 41, of Sarnia, was arrested on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 just before 7 AM, when he surrendered himself at the front desk of Sarnia Police headquarters. He had been wanted on outstanding warrants in relation to drug charges. He went for a bail hearing later that morning. He remains in custody.

(55 kg), brown hair, may have blonde streaks, brown eyes, wears glasses, right handed. Tattoos on arms, calf, upper and lower back. Multiple piercings in both ears. Wanted due to surety being revoked.

 

Daniel Matthew ROBERTSON, DOB: 10Apr1962, age 51 years. Described as Aboriginal male, thin build, 5′ 9″ (176 cm), 157 lbs. (71 kg), brown wavy hair, brown eyes, right handed. Scar on left ankle. Wanted for Breach of Recognizance.

 

Quentin Abraham SHAWNOO, DOB: 05Jan1989, age 24 years. Described as Aboriginal male, thin build, 5′ 9″ (175 cm), 148 lbs. (67 kg), black hair in brush cut, brown eyes, may have goatee, right handed. Tattoos on neck and torso, scars left arm, right calf and over right eye, piercings in left ear. Wanted for Breach of Probation x 2.

Sarnia Police issued the Fugitive Five list today at 2:35 PM and less than two hours later; one of the females on the list has been arrested. Juanita Iva DEACON, age 26, was arrested just at 3 PM this afternoon at an address on London Road. She was taken to police headquarters to determine if she will be released or held for bail.

Missing Woman Found

Two Firearms Seized During Warrant

Sarnia Police Vice Branch executed their 60th warrant last night around 4:45 PM in the 100 block of Davis Street. This was a Criminal Code Search Warrant and during the search two firearms were located along with marihuana, hydromorphone and cash. Three people were arrested.

Members from the Vice Branch were assisted by the Criminal Investigations and COPPS Branches. A traffic stop was made just before 4:30 PM in the area of East and Davis Streets. A 50 year old Sarnia was driving and his passenger was a 39 year old woman, also from Sarnia. The man was arrested and the woman was detained at the time. The warrant was then executed at the residence. A 27 year old man was found inside. The two people stopped in the vehicle are in police custody awaiting bail hearings. The man found inside was found to be on probation. He was charged with two counts of Breach of Probation and Possession of Marihuana for the Purpose of Trafficking. He was later released on a Promise to Appear.

The other two individuals will face charges of Possession of Hydromorphone for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Marihuana for the Purpose of Trafficking along with two counts of Possession of a Firearm Without Being the Holder of a Licence and two counts of Careless Storage of Firearms. The two firearms in question were a Mossberg 12 gauge pump action shotgun and a sawed off Ithaca 12 gauge pump action shotgun.

In total, over $2200 in cash was seized, 876 grams of marihuana with a street value of about $8,761, 23 Hydromorphone tablets with a street value of about $115 and 72 medicinal marihuana pills valued at about $730.

3 Arrests in Less Than 1 Hour

Sarnia Police had three arrests in less than one hour on the evening of July 17, 2013 between 11 PM and midnight. In the first incident, officers attended an address on Euphemia Street in regards to a trespassing complaint. A vacant apartment was searched and no one was found. The officers attended another unit at the same address and were met at the door by a visitor to that apartment. They were informed the tenant was not there. Further investigation revealed the tenant was hiding in her own unit. She was found to be on Probation with a condition not to associate with the visitor who answered the door. The 20 year old Sarnia woman was arrested and later released on a Promise to Appear with a court date in late August.

Ten minutes later, around 11:20 PM, officers attended on Capel Street regarding a disturbance. Two males met the officers at the location. One of the men, a 24 year old Courtright man, appeared intoxicated. After some conversation, the investigation revealed there was no criminal activity and the officers left. Officers were in the area, completing their notes, when they observed a motor vehicle on Exmouth Street near the previous location. This car drove to the officer’s cruiser. The Courtright man they spoke to about five minutes prior was behind the wheel. It was noted that he was not wearing a shirt. He was asked to step from his car and he was arrested for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle. Breath tests revealed he was over the legal limit. He was charged with Operate Motor Vehicle while is ability was Impaired and Drive with Over 80 MG. He was later released on a Promise to Appear.

Around 11:40 PM, an officer observed a female on a bicycle. The officer approached the woman and at that time she failed to identify herself. The woman rode off on the bike. She eventually jumped off and continued to run on foot. She was apprehended a short distance away in the 200 block of Finch Drive. She then identified herself and it was discovered she was on probation with a curfew condition. She was arrested for Breach of Probation. The 18 year old Sarnia woman was taken to headquarters and released later on a Promise to Appear. Her first court date will be in late August, 2013.

Missing Woman Found Quickly

On July 17, 2013, around noontime, an officer on patrol in the Rapid Parkway area was flagged down by someone who indicated his 77 year old mother was missing from her home near Modeland and Blackwell Roads. The woman had gone for a walk around 10:30 AM and had not yet returned. Family had been attempting to locate her when the officer was notified.

Given the weather conditions, the woman’s age and the length of time she had been gone, Sarnia Police commenced looking for her as well and preparing to activate their Missing Persons procedure to look for her. The Criminal Investigations Branch was notified and the Emergency Response Team paged out. The Canine Unit of the O.P.P. was also paged. The media release, along with a picture of her, was being prepared.

Other officers that had already commenced searching and had notified citizens on foot in the area to advise them if they spotted her. At approximately 12:30 PM, a police team had gathered at the home of the missing woman. At approximately 1:15 PM, one of those citizens in the area who had been advised by the police earlier notified them that he spotted her. The woman was located seated on a bench on the Howard Watson Trail, about 300 meters east of Modeland Road. The paramedics were called as a precaution. The woman was found to be OK and taken back to her home.

Shoplifter Needs to be Identified

On June 22, 2013, an officer attended a business on Finch Drive regarding a theft. The officer spoke to store employees. The store is equipped with video surveillance and it was being monitored at the time of the crime. A woman was observed entering the business and eventually placed an item in her purse without paying for it. At one point she looked up at the video camera. After a confrontation with employees, she left the store with the item concealed in her purse. The investigation continued and on July 11, 2013, the video clip was turned over to police. Quick Change Technique

Sarnia Police are once again asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a male who committed a theft at a store on London Line. On July 16, 2013, a male entered the store and purchased a small, inexpensive item. The man went to the cashier and produced a $100 bill. The cashier checked the bill for authenticity then placed it near her till. The suspect checked his pockets for exact change in order the make the transaction easier but it was during this time he momentarily distracted the clerk and took back the $100 bill and still received his change without the clerk noticing.

July 15 Robbery; Three Men Charges

Three men robbed and beat a 36 year old Sarnia man on July 15 at a home in the 200 block of Maxwell Street. The man had been riding his bike on Indian Road near Wellington Street when one of the assailants called him over and invited him to a home on Maxwell Street. The victim rode to that location where he saw three other men and four women. One of these other men was Quentin Shawnoo, who was on the Fugitive Five list.

About 20 minutes later, two other men arrived. The four females and two of the men left the Maxwell Street address, leaving the three accused and the victim. A short time later, the victim was punched in the jaw by Shawnoo. The two other men joined in and the victim was beaten with a stick and kicked repeatedly about his body and head. One man stomped on his head. He received a large gash on his head from the stick object and he began to bleed profusely. The men were yelling “kill him, kill him”.

The beating stopped and the victim was told to empty his pockets. He put a wallet, cell phone and cigarettes on the table. He was instructed to clean himself up. When he went to do this, his was struck in the mouth by one of the men. He retrieved his belongings but about $100 was missing. He was also told if he called police, he would be stabbed and his family killed.

The following day, the victim attended hospital to get his wounds treated. He received several lacerations to his head and deep bruising throughout his body. On July 17, the victim limped into Sarnia Police headquarters to report the assault. On July 19 just around 2:10 PM, one the accused, Anthony Maurice George of Sarnia was arrested near the Maxwell Street address. Just before 4 PM, a search warrant was executed at that residence. At approximately 8:55 PM, Shawnoo was arrested there.

A warrant for arrest is being requested for a 21 year old man. They will all face charges of Aggravated Assault, Utter Threats to Cause Death and Robbery. Shawnoo has additional charges of Breach of Probation x 3.

No Where to Run

On July 21, 2013, just after 2 AM, an officer spotted a Lincoln motor vehicle eastbound on Confederation Street near Ontario Street. The vehicle was stopped at a red light. The light turned green and the car started to proceed but veered into the westbound lanes crossing the yellow center line. The car then veered back but swerved in the lane. The vehicle continued to veer and made a lane change without signaling. The officers activated the emergency equipment on his cruiser.

The driver pulled into a business parking lot on Confederation, west of Indian Road. He exited his car and began to run westbound. The officer followed, yelling for the man to stop. Witnesses were in the area observing the chase. At about 2:15 AM, the accused was located by other officers. He smelled of alcohol. He was sweating and crying. He was arrested for Impaired Operation. He was taken to police headquarters where he provided samples of his breath. He was twice over the legal limit. He was later released on a Promise To Appear. The 21 year old Wallaceburg man faces Charges of Impaired Operation and Drive with Over 80 MG.

Update: More Charges in Robbery Case

Sarnia Police discovered a handgun inside the residence on Maxwell Street on Friday when they were executing the Criminal Code search warrant in relation to the robbery investigation. A .22 caliber revolver with a 2 ¼” barrel was found under a mattress in the apartment. The Sarnia Police Forensic Identification Branch attended to process the crime scene. Officers also located the cane used to assault the 36 year old victim as well as the bloody t-shirt he wore at the time.

Two more people will face various firearms offences as a result of the search warrant execution. Tiara Marie Colleen Symington, age 19, of Sarnia and Anthony Maurice George, age 28, will jointly faces charges of Unsafe Storage of a Firearm and Possession of a Firearm Without Being the Holder of a Licence. George will have an addition charge of Possession of a Firearm While Prohibited.

While officers were in attendance at the home on Maxwell Street around 4:15 PM, the accused, Shawnoo, jumped from a second floor window to avoid arrest. A foot chase ensued but he was not located at that time. Later, around 8:40 PM, police received information that Shawnoo was in the rear yard on Maxwell Street. Police attended and observed him on the upper balcony. He was informed of the outstanding warrants for his arrest. Officers surrounded the house and he eventually surrendered himself out the front door just before 9 PM. He remains in custody.
