At approximately 12:10 am on Monday the 18th of May 2015, Sarnia Police Service received a complaint of a male carrying a handgun near the west end of Canatara Park Beach parking lot. Information was received this male approached a trio of females, pointing the handgun at them and asking for money. The male then allowed them to leave when they advised they had nothing to give him and he walked away. The females were unharmed and called 911.
The male was described as: Young male, late teens to early twenties, tall and skinny, wearing a black ski mask, a grey hoodie and blue jeans. The handgun was described as silver with a black grip.
Sarnia Police officers responded, containing the area. A thorough search of the area with the assistance of the OPP Canine Unit, both Sarnia Police Service and OPP Emergency Response Team officers and OPP Tactical Response Unit officers was conducted for the safety of the public and to locate a suspect. The search yielded negative results.
The investigation is continuing, and the Sarnia Police Service is asking the public for any assistance to help identify a suspect.
