Sarnia Police service arrested two people for impaired driving over the weekend.
The first arrest occurred on Saturday April 11, just after 2:00 a.m. when officers responded to a single vehicle collision at Indian Road and Maxwell Street. When officers arrived they found a truck that had struck a pole and the driver was nearby. When the driver was approached he ran but was caught and arrested. The male was transported to the police station to provide samples of his breath. Breath test indicated the male was almost twice the legal limit. A small amount of suspected marihuana was also located in the truck.
Kyle Lubbers, age 25 years, of Sarnia has been charged with impaired operation, fail to remain and possession of a controlled substance.
The second incident took place on Sunday April 12 at about 2:30 a.m. on Campbell Street. A 25 year old male left a drinking establishment on Campbell Street in an SUV. As he left the parking lot he struck a curb and continued westbound until Mitton Street where he made a left turn which is a dead-end. The driver struck a chain-link fence at the end of the street leaving the front license plate stuck to the fence. The driver then left the scene and drove back to the drinking establishment where he was detained by staff until police arrived. The man was arrested and taken to the police station for a breath test. Samples of his breath indicated he was two and a half times the legal limit to drive.
