Sarnia Police Criminal Investigations Branch has recovered over $53,000.00 of stolen jewelry.
The victim of this crime is a 70 year old woman who befriended the accused several years ago. The victim and the accused were assisting a mutual friend at that time and the accused gained the trust of the victim.
During this time the victim noticed some jewelry missing and became suspicious of the accused when he was arrested on unrelated matters. The victim went to a local pawn shop in December of 2014 and located some of her jewelry and contacted police. With the cooperation of the pawn shop police were able to recover over $53,000.00 of her jewelry.
A 33 year old man from Sarnia is in custody awaiting bail and is facing four counts of Fraud Under $5000,seventeen counts of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 and two counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
