Sarnia Police were taking a report of a break and enter from a 26 year old woman yesterday afternoon shortly after 3 PM in the 200 block of Vidal Street South when the officer was summonsed to assist a 31 year old Sarnia woman who had been stabbed in the neck area. The woman reporting the break and ener was not directly involved in the stabbing or assault.
While assisting the stabbing victim, the officer then observed three young offenders assaulting a 57 year old man in an adjacent apartment at the same multi-unit complex, located at Devine and Vidal Streets. Others officers were called to assist. The area was cordoned off as the investigation continued.
The 31 year old woman who was stabbed was transported to hospital with life threatening injuries but has since stabilized. The 57 year old male victim was also taken to hospital but later released with a large amount of bruising, swelling and cuts to his face area along with bruising to his torso.
Three young offenders, age 17, 14 and 15 were arrested. The 17 year old female is from Windsor, the 14 year old male is from Kettle Point and the 15 year old male is from Sarnia. They jointly face a charge of Break and Enter and Assault Cause Bodily Harm. Two were released on a Promise to Appear. The 15 year old male was held for bail.
The 31 year old stabbing victim remains hospitalized but faces charges of Conspiracy to Commit Break and Enter and Assault Bodily Harm. All parties are family members.
The Sarnia Police Forensic Identification Branch attended to process the outside area. The area remains under police guard as search warrants will be executed later today.
