At about 7:00AM Thursday September 4, 2014 a Sarnia Police Service Traffic officer stopped a 39 year old Sarnia man for speeding on Modeland Road. The man was caught on radar travelling 118 km per hour in a 80 km per hour area. It was discovered the man was a disqualified driver and was arrested. During the arrest the officer could smell the odour of alcohol and requested the man provide a sample of his breath into a roadside device. The instrument indicated a fail and the man was taken to the police station to provide a sample of his breath. The officer also located a small amount of suspected cocaine in the vehicle as well. Once at the police station the man’s breath test showed he was one and a half times the legal limit.
Most alarming was the fact his 6 month old child was in the back seat of the car.
The man faces several charges including Driving Over the legal Limit, Drive While Disqualified, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Speeding.
