Over the past month the City of Sarnia has been experiencing a rash of bike thefts. Therefore the members of the COPPS Unit focused resources on an investigation to attempt to deter the thefts and determine who suspects maybe.
In the course of the investigation the officers observed a man and woman in the 300 block of Davis Street steal two bicycles at the same time. Fortunately the officers were able to arrest both parties. Charges between the two totaled 8 charges ranging from theft of bicycles, possession of drugs, breach of recognizance and breaches of probation.
Later that evening the members of the COPPS unit were in the 800 block of Devine St when they observed a male steal a bicycle and attempt to flee the area. Fortunately the officers were able to apprehend the man who was in his 40′s. He was subsequently charged with theft and breaches of probation.
All three were held for a bail hearing this morning.
This is just a reminder for the community at large to ensure that your bicycles are securely locked and if possible out of view.
