Individual Threatens Residents With Knife

On August 25, 2022, at approximately 9:20 PM a male forced his way into an apartment in the 100 block of Queen St, Sarnia. The male confronted the residents with an edged weapon, threatened them with harm, and assaulted one of the occupants. A 911 call was made and the offender fled.

Officers responded immediately, and located the accused nearby. A physical confrontation with police ensued during which time a conducted energy weapon (taser) was deployed. Police were able to take the accused into custody without further escalation, however an officer did sustain minor injuries during the arrest. The weapon used in this incident was recovered.

This was a random act and the victim in this matter does not know the accused and did not sustain any injuries. The officer was treated at the scene and returned to duty. The use of an illegal substance(s) are considered to have been a contributing factor in this incident.

As a result, the accused, Dakota Berlin George, 27 years of age, of Sarnia, faces the following charges:

  1. Assault
  2. Assault with a weapon
  3. Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  4. Uttering threats

The accused remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
