Homeowner Attacked

In the late afternoon hours of August 5, 2022, the accused in this matter attended an address in the area of Devine Street and Queen Street and walked up to the porch and removed a Canadian flag. The accused then walked away with it.

The homeowner and a family member saw this and followed the accused who was acting erratically. At one point the accused ran at the victims holding a needle in her hand and swinging it at them. The victims immediately attempted to flee the area and return to their residence.

The accused now began throwing rocks at them and actually struck them but did not cause any significant injury. The accused also began swinging a stick at the two victims but fortunately did not strike them.

From there the accused approached the backyard of another residence and began interacting with dogs in the backyard. At this time, the homeowner of this residence asked the accused to leave at which point she reached over the fence and grabbed a cup of coffee the complainant was drinking and then threw it at the complainant.

Police were contacted and were able to locate the accused still in the area and were able to take here into custody without further incident.

The accused, Kelsey Lynn SAAR, 30 years of age, of Sarnia, faces the following charges:

1. Theft under $5000
2. Three counts of assault of a weapon

SAAR has been remanded into custody pending a bail hearing.

You may wish to keep an eye out for direction of travel but avoiding direct contact maybe the safest option. We understand the frustration but wish to ensure everyone’s safety.
