Date: November 21, 2013

Yesterday afternoon around 1:45 PM, a COPPS Branch officer stopped a vehicle in the 500 block of Wellington Street. The officer became aware the 30 year old male driver was suspended from operating a motor vehicle. When the man exited his vehicle, he was arrested for that offence. In the center console of the vehicle, the officer spotted some Ziploc baggies containing burnt pieces of marihuana, totaling just over 4 grams. The Sarnia man was advised he would also be charged with Possession of Marihuana. He was transported to police headquarters.

When the officer checked his vehicle after the man was removed from it, several fentanyl patches with the packaging removed were found under the rear seat of the cruiser. Thirty-nine, 100 micro-gram packages of fentanyl were counted. This carries a street value of about $15,600.00. The man now faces an additional charge of Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking. He is being held for bail.
