A 33-year-old male has been arrested and charged with assault.
On Wednesday, May 19th, 2021, shortly after 2pm, the accused in this matter entered a business located in the 600 block of Cathcart Boulevard in the city of Sarnia. The male was known to staff members and on previous occasions had been asked not to attend the business.
On this date an employee once again approached the male and advised him he was not welcome. The accused became agitated and confrontational, approaching within a close proximity of the employee. Given the fact that he was not wearing a mask the employee extended his arms in an attempt to create personal space. This further agitated the male who responded by using both hands to violently hit the employee in the chest and push him. The accused then exited the store while continuing to verbally challenge the employee. He then left the area on a bicycle carrying a sledgehammer and was arrested a short distance away.
As a result, Lyle Guy Lavigne has been charged with one count of assault. He was subsequently held for a bail hearing and released the following day with his next court appearance scheduled for June 15th, 2021.
