A 45 year old man from Sarnia has been arrested and charged with Breaking and Entering into a local business.
On Friday, May 14th, 2021, shortly after 3pm, the accused in this case was able to gain entry into a restaurant in the 1300 block of London Road. Once inside he located a purse and a red money deposit bag with over $5000 in cash. The purse also contained personal identification as well as debit and credit cards in the victim’s name.
The accused in this case was identified by the investigating officer through video surveillance and, as a result, a warrant was requested for his arrest.
On May 17th, 2021, shortly after 12:30am, an officer from the COPPS Unit spotted the accused standing near the intersection of London Road and Murphy Road and placed him under arrest for the break in. At the time of his arrest, the accused was in possession of a backpack that contained stolen items from the restaurant including the red deposit bag, the victim’s wallet with identification and cards, along with receipts, cheques and documentation in the restaurant name. The accused was also in possession of 4 grams of methamphetamine. Unfortunately, only a small amount of cash was recovered.
In addition to being charged with Break, Enter and Theft, Keith Brian Tracey has also been charged with Theft Over $5000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Breach of Probation.
The accused was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for May 25th, 2021.
