Update Regarding London Line Motor Vehicle Fatality

On May 7, 2021, at approximately 5:00 AM, Sarnia Police responded to the 1700 block of London Line regarding a single motor vehicle collision that had just occurred.

Upon arriving officers located a motor vehicle with significant damage and also observed a concrete hydro pole on the ground. Also located was alone male who had been ejected from the vehicle. The individual was immediately transported to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

An investigation ensued by members of the Sarnia Police Service Forensic Identification Branch, Criminal Investigation Branch, and Traffic Unit.

At this time, it has been determined that the motor vehicle involved was reported stolen on May 2, 2021, from a laneway in Sarnia.

Also, members of the Traffic Unit have been able to confirm that the vehicle was travelling westbound on London Line when it left the road and ended up rolling over, striking the hydro pole, and coming back to rest on all four wheels. The lone occupant was ejected from the vehicle during the incident.

The deceased has been identified as Michael David Simmons, 51 years of age, of Sarnia.

Currently, the Sarnia Police Service continues its investigation to determine the cause of the collision and possible contributing factors.
