Sarnia Police responded to a series of motor vehicle crashes yesterday morning. A total of 6 crashes occurred within a 2 hour period between 7 AM and 9 AM yesterday. No one was hurt in the crashes and most of them were due to slippery road conditions.
The first crash happened around 7:15 AM at Murphy Road and Cardiff Drive when an empty school bus hit a bus shelter. The second crash was at 7:35 at Cathcart Boulevard and Modeland Road. While that officer was at that scene taking the report, a second crash occurred just down the road just before 8 AM at Blackwell Road and Michigan Avenue.
The fourth collision was a couple of minutes before 8 AM at Confederation Road and Finch Drive; the fifth at Michigan and Murphy Roads and the sixth at 8:56 AM at Michigan and Blackwell Roads.
Even though it is not officially winter yet, police remind motorists that they must be prepared for winter driving conditions from this time forward. Leave extra time for you to arrive at your destination, leave extra room between the vehicles ahead of you and make sure your motor vehicle is road worthy, that is, top up fluids and clear off mirrors and windows.
