On December 11, 2020, at approximately 2:30 AM, Sarnia Police Service officers were dispatched to the southeast corner of Afton Drive and Murphy Road regarding a vehicle that had collided with a building. Upon arriving the officers observed that a vehicle had driven across the front lawn of the church and struck the south the southeast corner of the building causing significant damage.
The vehicle also experienced significant damage to its front end and its undercarriage but the driver did not sustain any significant injuries. As the officers continued their investigation grounds were formed to arrest the driver for impaired operation.
The accused was transported to the station where a breath technician administered the breathalyzer test. Upon completing the test, the accused was found to be over the legal limit.
The accused, Caitlin Diane Wonderhem, 24 years of age, of Sarnia, faces one count of impaired operation and one count of having over 80 mg of alcohol in her blood. She was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and her first appearance at the Sarnia Courthouse will be on January 26, 2021, at 9:30 AM.
