At approximately 12:15 AM this morning (September 23, 2020), Sarnia Police were dispatched to the intersection of East Street and Ontario Street regarding a collision between a motor vehicle and a pedestrian on a bicycle.
The pedestrian was immediately transported to hospital via ambulance where he remains in stable but serious condition.
At the scene, as officers continued their investigation, grounds were formed to arrest the driver of the vehicle for impaired operation. The suspect was transported back to the Sarnia Police Headquarters where a breath demand was made.
Upon completion of testing with the Intoxilyzer, by a qualified breath technician, it is alleged that the driver was twice over the legal limit.
The accused in this matter, Dylan James Ladouceur, 35 years of age, of Sarnia, has been charged with operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm and operation of a conveyance while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus.
