A high-end bicycle was recently stolen off a vehicle bike rack while the owner was inside a business and his family was waiting in the car.
On August 14th, 2020 at approximately 12:45pm, the victim in this case attended a business in the area of London Road and Pontiac Drive while his wife and kids waited in the car. While inside the store, the victim’s bicycle, which was unlocked although still attached the vehicle’s bike rack, was quickly removed from the rack and pedalled away by the thief.
The bicycle in this case is a black/red/white Focus Cayo road bike as pictured below and valued at $4000.00.
The investigation is continuing and police are attempting to obtain video in the area. Anyone with information in this case is asked to contact Constable Andrew Clifford at 519-344-8861 extension 6178 or Sarnia Lambton Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
Sarnia Police would like to advise bicycle owners to lock their bikes at all times when unattended and to consider using bike locks that are designed for bike racks to deter would be thieves from this crime of opportunity.
