A 36 year old male from Sarnia has been arrested and charged after an early morning convenience store robbery.
On August 17, 2020, at approximately 04:40 a.m., the male in this case allegedly entered a convenience store in the 200 block on Confederation Street wearing a bandana as a facial disguise. He proceeded directly behind the front counter wielding a crowbar while demanding all the money in the till. After approaching the till and stealing a small amount of cash, he then fled the store on a bicycle heading eastbound on Confederation Street.
Police were then called to the scene and viewed security footage from the store. An updated description of the suspect was then provided to officers on the road.
At approximately 05:20 a.m., in the area of Ontario Street and Shepherd Street, officers located the accused who matched the description of the suspect in this case and as a result he was arrested accordingly.
Lee Edward Oliver has been charged with Robbery, Disguise with Intent, and two counts of Failing to Comply with Release Order. He was held for a bail hearing and has since been remanded in custody.
