Recently the Sarnia Police Service received a call regarding what appears to be some sort of scam.
According to the complainant a call was received from a scammer claiming to be from the Alzheimer Society. He asked the complainant for the phone numbers of her friends with dementia. The complainant did not proceed any further with the call and thus no information was exchanged.
The Alzheimer Society would not phone the public unprompted and they would not ask for credit card information.
As always, please remember that if anything sounds to good to be true or very peculiar please just hang up and do not give out or confirm any information. If you do have concerns, please research a proper contact number for the agency in question and make the call using that number and not the one given to you by the scammer.
