On May 13, 2020, at approximately 7:30 PM, the Sarnia Police Service received a report of a full size van veering off Telfer Road, in the area of London Road, and running into a hydro pole. The force of the impact caused the pole to snap.
The driver of the van exited his vehicle and began to leave the area but fortunately witnesses were able to detain him until police arrived.
Upon arrival officers arrested the driver without incident. As officers continued their investigation apparent signs of impairment became evident and the accused was also arrested for impaired operation of a conveyance (motor vehicle). The accused was taken to hospital for observation but was later released with minor injuries.
The accused, Dylan Patrick Dozois, 32 years of age, of Chatham, faces the following charges:
- Operation of a conveyance while impaired by alcohol and drugs
- Possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine)
- Driving while under suspension
- Fail to remain
Dozois has since been released via appearance notice and summons for court.
