Man Wanted on Warrants Faces More Charges

On January 21, 2019, at approximately 10:00 AM, members of the Sarnia Police Service COPPPS Unit were in the 1400 block of Exmouth Street attempting to locate an accused wanted on outstanding warrants for failing to attend court and on a warrant of committal.

Officers observed the suspect as he was leaving a residence and approached him advising him that he was under arrest. The suspect immediately dropped a bag he was carrying and began to run from the police.

Officers gave chase after the male who ended up running into a store located at Lambton Mall. The officers were able to catch up to the suspect and take him to the ground. The suspect began to resist the officers and refused to comply. Officers were finally able to handcuff the accused and take him into custody.

The accused was found to be in possession of quantities of crystal methamphetamine and cocaine along with a folding knife that can be opened with the flick of a wrist.

As result of the search and the arrest made Justin Alexander Elipani, 24 years of age, of Sarnia, now faces the following charges:

  1. Two counts of failing to comply with a Judicial Release
  2. Two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
  3. Resist Peace Officer
  4. Possession of a prohibited device
  5. Carrying a concealed weapon

The accused was held for a bail hearing.
