Last night, around 11:20 PM, the Sarnia Police Vice Branch became involved in an investigation on Venetian Boulevard in Point Edward. They, along with uniformed officers from the Community Response Branch, attempted to stop a motor vehicle in a parking lot. The uniformed officers, along with Vice Branch officers approached the car on foot, but the driver decided to run. He fled on foot. As he was running, he was discarding items along a fence line. He was eventually apprehended a short distance away. A female in the vehicle was also arrested.
Officers retraced the path followed by the man and found cocaine. As a result of this, a search warrant was executed at a motel room just after midnight. More drugs were found. About 32 grams of cocaine was found on the ground and a small amount of marihuana and oxycodone was found in the motel room. The total street value of the drugs seized was about $3,242. Over $500 in cash was also seized.
A 22 year old Sarnia woman and a 25 year old Toronto man are in police custody and will go for bail hearings this morning. They jointly face charges of Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Cannabis Marihuana and Possession of Oxycodone. The woman faces 3 additional charges of Breach of Probation.
