UPDATE 1 FROM PRIMARY CONTROL GROUP
The Sarnia Primary Control Group met at 1:31PM on June 28, 2019 at The Sarnia Police Station regarding the derailment in the CN Tunnel.
Sarnia Fire and Port Huron Fire Rescue are on scene for safety purposes. There is no off site impact or risk to the public at this time.
One tank car containing sulphuric acid was breached in the tunnel. We have been advised that contamination in the tunnel is contained. Further environmental monitoring will continue.
Canadian and U.S. officials are working alongside CN.
The Sarnia Fire Rescue will provide further updates as necessary.

SFRS RESPONDS TO A TRAIN DERAILMENT IN THE CN TUNNEL
SARNIA (June 28, 2019) at 5:30am on FRIDAY June 28, 2019,
Sarnia Fire Rescue Services (SFRS) was notified of and responded to a train derailment in the CN tunnel.
Sarnia Fire Rescue Services have responded and remain on scene. SFRS are currently investigating and working with officials from CN and Sarnia Police Services. Officials including Port Huron Fire Department have also responded from the United States side of the tunnel.
There is no known public hazard or off site impact as a result of this incident and no injuries reported.
Sarnia Fire Rescue Services will provide further updates.
