The Sarnia Police Service would like to remind the public of scheduled road closures on Canada Day, Monday, July 1st, 2019 with respect to the parade and park activities.
9:00am: Lakeshore Rd between Colborne Rd and Indian Rd will be closed to allow parade and float assembly.
10:30am: All entrances to Canatara Park will be closed to the public. Only vehicles with Accessible Parking Permits displayed will be allowed entry prior to this time. There will be no motor vehicle traffic allowed into Canatara Park after 10:30am except for emergency services and Sarnia Transit. Sandy Lane entrance will have restricted access only for vendors, performers and volunteers with parking passes issued by the City of Sarnia. *NOTE: NO VEHICLES WILL BE ALLOWED TO PARK ON SANDY LANE.
10:30am: Christina St N from Michigan Ave to Lakeshore Rd continuing east on Lakeshore Rd to Colborne Rd will be closed. There will be no side street access allowed to these sections of Christina St and Lakeshore Rd. Cathcart Blvd between Christina St N and Colborne Rd will also be closed at this time.
11:30am: Canada Day Parade begins. Route: Lakeshore Rd westbound from Colborne Rd – southbound Christina Street to Cathcart Blvd – westbound into Canatara Park along Lake Chipican Dr – continuing westbound through the Terry Fox Trail ending at Sandy Lane. Note: Approximately one hour following the parade completion, vehicles will be allowed to exit the park once pedestrian traffic has reasonably cleared. To ensure pedestrian safety, vehicles will only be allowed to exit eastbound on Cathcart Blvd towards Colborne Rd.
2:30pm: All entrances to Canatara Park will re-open. Christina St N at Cathcart Blvd will also re-open to normal traffic flow at this time.
3:00pm: Front St between Exmouth St and London Rd will be closed with no side street access to allow safe pedestrian access to Centennial Park.
10:00pm: Annual fireworks show begins.
12:00am: Front St will re-open to normal traffic flow.
The Sarnia Police Service would like to advise visitors to Canatara and Centennial Park that pedestrian safety is always a priority and to remind motorists to, expect delays, plan ahead and please be patient.
