Sarnia Police Service Vice Unit Continues Battle Against Drugs

Unfortunately the scourge of Fentanyl (opioids) and other drugs continue to affect out City. Due to this, members of the Sarnia Police Service and its Vice Unit continue their battle.

As part of an ongoing investigation officers from the Sarnia Police Service Vice Unit conducted a takedown of a female in the area of Trudeau Drive and Finch Drive and arrested the female for possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl.  This took place on March 29, 2019, at approximately 2:50 pm.

A search of the suspect’s purse located a number of cut up 100 microgram fentanyl patches and crystal methamphetamine.

While the suspect was being transported back to the station she was able to slip out of her handcuffs and began attempting to remove items from her bra and conceal them down her pants. The officers immediately stopped the cruiser and placed her back into her handcuffs.

Once at the station a search of the accused’s person located further drugs in the form of purple powder fentanyl and a number of 100 microgram fentanyl patches,

In total officers located the following:

  1. 15 -100 microgram fentanyl patches, valued at approximately $12000
  2. 1.3 grams of methamphetamine, valued at $150
  3. 0.9 grams of purple powder fentanyl, valued at $450
  4. Officers also seized $2975 in cash

The accused in this matter, Crystal Dawn Haywood, 34 years of age, faces one count of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (opioid) and one count of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine). Haywood remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
