Broadcast time: 10:00 am

Date: March 11, 2019

On March 9, 2019, at approximately 2:30 pm, members of the Sarnia Police Service were dispatched to the 700 block of Ross Street regarding a pick-up truck that had struck a tree in the area.

Officers spoke to witnesses who advised that the pick-up truck had driven across the lawn of a residence and then reversed out of the driveway striking a tree in another front yard.

The witnesses pointed out the truck to the officers which was parked in the driveway of another residence on Ross Street.

Officers attended the house where the truck was parked and observed evidence of tree matter on the bumper of the truck.

They then attend the house and spoke with the driver of the truck who had already entered his home. Upon speaking with the driver, reasonable grounds to arrest the accused for impaired operation of a motor vehicle were formed.

The accused was then transported back to the station where he supplied samples of breath into the Intoxilyzer. Test results indicated that the accused had over three times the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.

The accused, Terry Lane Johnson, 62 years of age, of Sarnia, now faces charges for impaired operation of a motor vehicle, and for operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration of over 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood.
