The Sarnia Police Service Criminal Investigation Branch has completed their investigation regarding an incident what was initially believed to be a matter pertaining to a female being distracted while in her car while parked in a local grocery store parking lot. The concern was generated through Facebook posts that two males were possibly attempting to steal the female’s purse.

As of last evening detectives were able to meet with the female and were also able to retrieve video from surveillance cameras.

First, It was determined that there was no second male in the area that approached the passenger side door.

Secondly, the male who approached the female from the driver’s side was also spoken to by police. It was determined that this male approached the female honestly believing she was someone else.

No wrong doing has occurred in this matter. It is believed that the female may have been startled by the quick interaction with the unknown male.

We appreciate everyone’s patience as the Sarnia Police Service investigated the matter and are happy to say that nothing sinister occurred.
