On Saturday, January 5, 2018, at approximately 2:50 am, an officer observed a motor vehicle travelling down the wrong side of College Avenue in the City of Sarnia. The vehicle was stopped by the officer to determine the driver’s state. After investigating the matter further the officer formed reasonable suspicion to administer a road side breath test. In turn the test indicated that the driver had more than 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood.
The driver was arrested at this point and transported to the Sarnia Police Station where a breath technician administered the Intoxilyzer Instrument. Readings from the instrument indicated that the driver was twice over the legal limit.
Tyler Goodall, 22 years of age, of Sarnia, now faces a charge of having over 80 mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood.
On Sunday, January 6, 2018, at approximately 9:00 pm, a witness travelling southbound on Murphy Road observed a motor vehicle pulling out of a parking lot onto the road and travelling southbound on Murphy Road swerving in its lane and it did not have its headlights fully operational.
The witness observed the vehicle strike the rear of a parked car and then reverse to continue southbound on Murphy Road. The vehicle then pulled into a local gas station at which point police arrived to investigate the matter. The officer noted that the vehicle sustained significant front end damage.
Within a short period of time of investigating the matter the officer was able to form reasonable grounds to arrest the driver for impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
The driver was taken into custody and transported to the Sarnia Police Station to supply samples of breath into the Intoxilyzer Instrument. The readings indicated the accused was twice over the legal limit.
The accused, Danuta Czainski, 56 years of age, of Sarnia, has now been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, and for having over 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood.
The Sarnia Police service would like to remind the public that drinking driving or taking drugs and driving are offences with very serious consequences. Not just financially but with the lives that are affected. The Service will continue its best efforts in educating the public and being vigilant for impaired drivers. We truly appreciate the public’s assistance when they come across possible impaired drivers and encourage them to call the police when they do witness something.
