Three males, age 50, 39 and 62 and one female, age 41, are in police custody this morning and will go for bail hearings this morning. An array of charges was laid after a traffic stop near London Road and Russell Street last night around 9 PM. The Vice Branch officers attempted to stop a motor vehicle where three of the individuals were. A vice branch officer was in the process of arresting the female occupant from the rear seat when the 62 year old driver accelerated, knocking down the officer and running over the lower portion of his leg.
Other officers attended and after some reckless driving in a parking lot, the vehicle stopped and all of the occupants arrested.
Cash was strewn about inside. A bag of crystal methamphetamine was found in the lot and had been thrown from the vehicle just prior.
As a result of this traffic stop, a search warrant was executed at a residence on Capel Street. That is where the 50 year old man was located along with more crystal methamphetamine and 40 units of liquid methamphetamine valued at about $40.00.
In total, over 35 grams of crystal methamphetamine was seized with a street value of $4,260. Almost $500 in cash was found in the car.
The charges laid include Possession of Cannabis Marihuana under 30 grams, Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Methamphetamine, Dangerous Driving, Assault Peace Officer and Breach of Recognizance.
