Recently the Sarnia Police Service has investigated thefts from local arena change rooms.
The first incident occurred on November 16, 2018, at approximately 9:00 pm, at the Clearwater Arena. The suspect in this matter entered a change room and stole a set of car keys and credit cards. The suspect located the motor vehicle in the parking lot and drove away.
That same night the suspect used the credit card at two different locations to make purchases. The vehicle was located a short time later in the city.
In another incident, on December 6, 2018, at approximately 9:30 pm, a suspect entered a locker room at the Progressive Auto Sales Arena and stole a number of wallets and cell phones. Some of the items were later located on Quinn Drive while other items were loca1ted on Scott Road just south of Williams Drive.
Fortunately, in both incidents, surveillance cameras were able to catch images of the suspect in this matter.
The accused is Clinton Scott Hopkins, 31 years of age. Hopkins now has warrants out for his arrest and faces eight counts of theft under $5000, one count of theft of a motor vehicle, three counts for use of a credit card, one count of possession of property obtained by crime, and three counts of failing to comply with recognizance.
Hopkins also has warrants from other jurisdictions. Please find photo attached below.
The Sarnia Police Service Criminal Investigation continues to look into the matter in hope of identifying two possible other suspects that may have assisted in the crime. More information may follow.
