Broadcast time: 12:30 pm

Date: October 9, 2018

On October 8, 2018, at approximately 1:30 pm, a teenage witness observed a male and female break into an address in the 1100 block of Guthrie Drive East, which was currently being renovated. The witness observed the two suspects load a pick-up truck with a table saw and leave the area. Fortunately the witness was able to gather a description of the suspects along with the license plate of the truck.

A short while later officers from the Sarnia Police Service were dispatched to a disturbance on Philips Street East. Upon arrival the officers noted that the people present in the disturbance matched the description of the suspects from the break and enter. Also, the officers observed that the pick-up truck and its license plate also matched the description. The stolen table saw was located in the truck and in plain view.

Subsequent to this the officers arrested the couple and they were taken into custody.

Katelyn Maurer, 22 years of age, of Petrolia, has been charged with break and enter, possession of break and enter instruments, mischief over $5000, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.

The second accused, Joseph Boose, 20 years of age, also from Petrolia, faces the same charges along with four counts of breaching his probation.

The Sarnia Police Service would like to thank the witness for their assistance in solving this case.
