On March 10, 2018, at approximately 2:30 am, a Sarnia Police Service officer, on general patrol, observed a vehicle travelling in front of him that was swerving in between the traffic lane as the vehicle headed northbound on East Street in the City of Sarnia. At one point the officer observed that the rear tire struck the curb as it continued to swerve.
The officer activated his cruiser’s emergency lights and brought the vehicle to a stop. As the officer interacted with the driver and investigated the matter, grounds were formed to arrest the driver for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. The driver was transported to the station where he supplied a sample of breath into an Intoxilyzer.
Upon completion of the testing it was determined that the driver was over twice the legal limit. The accused, Alan Walker, 53 years of age, of Sarnia, was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and having over 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood. He was subsequently released on a promise to appear once he was sober and given a court date.
