On December 18, 2017, shortly after 10:00 am, members of the Sarnia Police Service, Sarnia Fire Department, and Lambton Paramedics responded to a collision at the intersection of Blackwell Side Road and Confederation Line. An SUV vehicle driven by a 59 year old female was heading southbound on Blackwell Side Road and came into contact with a transport truck heading east bound on Confederation Line. The transport truck was driven by a 52 year old man.
Secondary to the collision, the female driver was taken to hospital by ambulance but was later transported to a London hospital with serious injuries. The SUV sustained significant damage and the transport truck veered into the ditch. Officers remained on scene to investigate the collision and have the transport and SUV removed.
The female driver of the SUV has been charged with failing to yield to traffic on a through highway.
